Earlier, Facebook Stories could only have been shared with friends of the users but according to TechCrunch, after this update, if users allow public followers they’ll be able to post their Story publicly so anyone on Facebook can watch it. Enabling users to post publicly makes Facebook Stories as good a feature as it is on Instagram and Snapchat for popularising internet celebrity profiles. “This is something we rolled out a few weeks ago. The Public setting allows your Followers to see your story, in addition to your Friends.” As for if or when Pages will be able to post Stories, Facebook tells me “For Pages – no specific timing to share there quite yet,” a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch.
How to Make Facebook Story Public?
If you don’t have an active Facebook Story, then tap on the ‘Add Story’ button on the homepage of your Facebook feed and post a photo or video. Then open your story and tap on the ‘three-dot’ button. Then select ‘Edit Story Settings’ from the menu and change ‘Who can see your story’ from ‘Friends’ to ‘Public’. All of the Stories here on will be publicly visible to everyone on Facebook. You will be able to see the names of your friends who viewed the story and a number count for all additional followers who have viewed your story. Although the feature was first introduced by Snapchat — as were many others which were copied — Facebook’s numbers which include that of Instagram have dwarfed them. WhatsApp Status is a feature quite similar to Stories on all of these platforms although users on the messaging service don’t really seem interested in using it.
