block unnecessary calls and SMS on our Android smartphone , but the way WhatsApp is gaining popularity, it seems it’ll soon become the de facto way of communication over a phone instead of calls or texts. The cool thing about it is that one can also use it to quickly share images or videos , or even voice for that matter. But WhatsApp is no remedy for people who piss you off. So blocking them is the only way out. We will see how to block certain WhatsApp contacts on Android. The process for the corresponding iOS or other versions should be more or less the same.
Blocking Contacts
To Block a contact on WhatsApp, open the recent chat screen in WhatsApp and select Settings from the menu. In WhatsApp Settings, tap Contacts to open WhatsApp contact manager. Here select Blocked Contacts to manage all the contacts you have blocked on WhatsApp. If this is the first time you are blocking anyone you will see None written in front of the Block contacts option. Tap the Add contacts icon and select the Contact you want to add. All the contacts you add to the list will no longer be able to send you any messages. However, the person you have blocked will still be able to see you in his friends list and see your status updates and profile pic. But that’s nothing! When you want to unblock a contact, long press on the contact in the blocked list and tap the Unblock option. If the contact is not in your Android’s phonebook you will see a Block button in the conversation screen itself.
