The benefit of linking Alexa to Yeelight smart bulbs is beyond merely switching them on or off. You can also assign different routines and subroutines if you have more than one light in a room. All these make controlling the lights a much simpler affair. Step 1: Voice commands on Yeelight products work only with the Singapore server. Hence, before we proceed further, make sure to check the server on your Yeelight app. To do so, open the Yeelight app and go to More > Server and choose Singapore from the drop-down list. Step 2: Now, go to the left menu on the Alexa app and tap on Skills & games. Once in, search for Mi Home and sign in using your Mi credentials when prompted. Once the link is successful, tap on the Discover Devices button. The device discovery phase can take up to 45 seconds. Step 3: Now, on Alexa’s Devices page, tap on Lights and press the On switch. What’s more, you can also set the color by tapping on the light option. And that’s pretty much it! All you need to do is tap on the Alexa button at the bottom or wake your Echo device by asking, “Hey Alexa, turn on Bedroom lights.” Yep, you can thank me later! Step 4: For multiple smart lights, you can create a smart homegroup so that all the lights are easier to control together. To create a group, navigate to Smart Home and tap on the Plus icon at the top-right corner. Select Add group > Smart Home Group and give it an easy name like ‘hall lights’ or ‘porch lights.’ Add the devices that you want in this particular group. To turn these grouped lights on/off, say “turn hall lights off.” Buy

Setting up Alexa Routines for Yeelight Smart Lights
Alexa Routines make it possible, and the good thing is that setting them up isn’t rocket science. Let’s see how. Step 1: Open the left menu and select Routines and press the Plus icon at the top-right corner. Now, add a phrase which is easy to remember. Step 2: Press the Add Action option and select Smart Home > Control device > Lights and choose the brightness and the color. Having done that, tap Next > Add. You can also add other actions like powering off other smart home groups, lowering Echo’s volume, playing a particular music track, among many others.
Common Problems: Connecting Yeelight to Alexa
1. Voice Commands Won’t Respond
Voice commands on Yeelight products works with the Singapore server only. To change the server, refer to previous sections.
2. Lights Not Switching on or Not Responding
Sometimes due to glitches in the network connection, the smart bulbs refuses to switch on. Also, you may see the same issue if there are power cuts. Most of the times, physically switching on/off the device works. Once done, wait for a few minutes for it to connect to Wi-Fi and test.
3. Turn Two Lights on Simultaneously
Alexa Smart Home Groups make it possible. Simply add the two devices to a Smart Home Group and give the group such a name that is easy to speak. You can activate the lights by just asking, “Alexa, turnon.”
4. Resetting the Yeelight Smart Bulbs
If your Yeelight bulbs do need a reset, power on and off the device fives time in a row. Please note that you’d need to set up the lights again.
