Many Google searches and recommendations later, I landed on an app which goes by the name of CetusPlay. Its tagline of ‘No.1 Android TV box and Fire TV Cast and Remote‘ intrigued me into trying it to see whether it really lives up to its promise. Thanks to its easy interface, safety points, and features, CetusPlay is easily the best remote app for Android and Fire TV. The only prerequisite for this app is that both the TV and your Android smartphone must be connected to the same WiFi network. Now that we have established what the app does, let’s see the setup and installation process.
Installation & Setup
1. Installation on Android TV
To get started, the app needs to be installed on both your smartphone and TV. Once installed, the app will automatically search for an Android TV/box in its vicinity. Now all you have to do is select your TV. If you are connecting for the first time, the TV would send an authentication code. This 4-digit code needs to be entered on the phone to connect. That’s all! The CetusPlay app comes packed with all the basic buttons like home, power, back, menu, volume up/down and the navigation button.
2. Installing in Fire TV/Stick
Installing CetusPlay on a Fire TV/Stick or TVs that run custom Android with proprietary stores is a bit tricky since you can’t access the Play Store directly. There’s a workaround though, in the form of the Developer options. To enable the Developer options, head over to Settings > About and tap on the build number 7 times. Once done, toggle the USB debugging mode to On. Back on your phone, search and connect to your Android TV. Once the connection is established, the app will be automatically installed on the TV. Now, all you need to do is, sit back and leave all your battery related worries behind.
How Does CetusPlay Work?
Working with the CetusPlay is quite simple. Aforesaid, it bundles in all the necessary buttons making it an absolute darling. What’s more, you can enable the touchpad mode or the mouse mode to skip through videos and movies. Also, it comes with a numeric mode, just in the case you need to select games or apps.
Additional Features
CetusPlay is more than just a remote app. It contains an array of apps in its App Center like HuffPost or Terrarium TV. It’s a hassle-free way of getting apps into your TV where all you need to do is tap on install and the app will be installed on the TV. Apart from that, the app also lets you cast your phone’s content to the TV through the Play on TV feature. Unlike a few apps like Plex, where you need a secondary casting app, CetusPlay comes with a built-in casting feature.
The Best Android TV Remote?
The CetusPlay Remote app certainly made my work hassle free. Plus, the additional apps and features like Screen capture and Clean Master are a cherry on top. So, will you get this app?
