If you ever need to stitch a couple of images to quickly upload them to your Tumblr/WordPress blog or post it on Twitter, just use on of these apps on your Android device, iPhone or iPad. No need to go to the web or rush for the laptop! Pro tip: Once you’ve joined the images, why don’t you use Skitch or apps like Pinpoint on iOS to easily annotate or draw over them before sharing.
1. Photo Joiner for Android
Don’t go for the looks. It might seem like an app straight out of Android’s dreadful Holo era (great, now I’ll have nightmares about Honeycomb), but it does the job. Start Photo Joiner and tap the Join Photos button. You’ll see the latest photos/screenshots here. There’s no option to quickly jump to an album so you’ll need to scroll through your entire gallery. Select the images you want. You can select up to 10 images. Tap Next. From here you’ll be able to decide the resolution of the photo. Slide around to make the image smaller or bigger. Right below is the orientation option (for joining images vertically or horizontally) and the format. Click OK and the app will generate the image. You can then open it directly or bring up the Share menu to quickly share the post using Android’s share sheet.
2. PhotoJoiner for iPhone and iPad
PhotoJoiner for iOS is a really simple photo joining app. It works similar to their website. After launching the app, tap Select Photo. This will open iOS’ photo picker. The problem is that you can only select one photo at a time. Which, is stupid. But it’s a limitation probably thanks to an oversight. So to add more photos that you want to join, you’ll need to tap the Add Photo button on the top-left. From the bottom, you can select the layout you want – vertical, horizontal or a grid. You can also add a margin and a fill color. Once you’ve decided to create the image, you’ll be asked to wait for a couple of seconds while you watch an ad. The photo will be automatically saved to your Camera Roll.
How About a Collage Then?
Well, the next step is usually a collage. If you’re looking to create an epic collage, the best app, hands down, is Instagram’s own Layout app. It’s now available for Android as well. Give it a shot.
