Now, you can watch full length TV episodes and movies…but all on YouTube. YouTube viewers in India will remember this section from last year when quite a few matches of the IPL were streamed live. The landing page of YouTube Shows gives you a broad view of the categories (genres) you can select as per your viewing tastes. A mouse-over on the thumbnails gives you a brief text hint of what that show is all about.
Here’s the complete list of categories you can get by clicking on the drop down.
Let’s check out what Classic TV category has for us today.
Hey, there are 177 episodes from Star Trek and 86 episodes from The Mahabharata too! I am sure plenty more episodes are in the offing. If you are finding it difficult to scan through the thumbnails, just use the filters on top which allow you to search for TV shows, web shows, clips, and full episodes. You can also sort the entire collection by Latest, or Most Popular. Let’s do a bit of mythology with the Mahabharata. The page is very nicely arranged and you can drill down through the episodes and clips with a few clicks.
If you are searching for a particular show and still haven’t found it in the YouTube pile, take the old-fashioned route by using the search bar. You might be interested in a region specific show like I was in a serial called Fauji where India’s reigning superstar Shahrukh Khan made his TV debut. Well, I got the entire 13 video strong playlist.
YouTube Shows has great entertainment value. But for me it’s often a free trip down memory lane as I catch a few blasts from the past. Tell us about your favorite TV shows and whether you managed to catch them on YouTube Shows.
